Worcester's Family Health Center has redesigned its website and now welcomes patients with a video introduction in six different languages.

In an effort to more effectively communicate with patients, the new website features workers at the nonprofit organization reading a welcome message in one of six languages: Arabic, Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian-Creole and Twi, which is spoken in Ghana.

The center worked with two Worcester Polytechnic Institute students to develop the new website and film the videos of the staff.

The center provides medical and dental services to more than 21,000 patients annually that speak an estimated 30 languages. The center has family medicine, nursing and dentistry services, among others.

"Family Health Center’s new website is a reflection of the rich diversity in the City of Worcester, and also represents our efforts to communicate more effectively with our patients", said Frances M. Anthes, CEO of Family Health Center. "We provide medical and dental services for more than 21,000 local individuals in over 30 languages on a daily basis. We wanted our website to be a resource for all of our patients, so we have included the seven major languages spoken by our patient population using video content", said Anthes.

WPI students Joanne Jing Zhang and Olufunmilayo Olatokunbo Adebayo helped Family Health Center develop the new website and filmed the videos of Family Health Center staff at WPI. "The students did a wonderful job and worked closely with staff throughout the year to develop the new site", said Noreen Johnson Smith, vice president of development at Family Health Center. "We are very pleased with the results", said Smith.
